I’m an incurably curious human. I ask why? — usually at least five times — along with who, what, when, how, and the occasionally useful question, “Are we sure this is actually a good idea?” Eventually, most of my questions lead back to one: How can I help alleviate suffering and increase well-being for my fellow humans and the whole of existence?

To bring that down to Earth — or at least to the web — professionally, I’m a product and technology executive who has led at the Senior Director, Director, and Principal levels. I’ve spent more than 20 years building technology, products, teams, and organizations across Amazon, PayPal, AI, cybersecurity, identity, FinTech, cloud, and data.

​

These days, much of my work — and a fair amount of my thinking — centers on Generative AI, AI agents, and how profoundly these technologies may change the way humans work and live. I’m fascinated by what AI can do. I’m even more interested in what we should ask it to do.

I believe good leadership requires intellectual curiosity, technical credibility, empathy, and the humility to know that the smartest person in the room may not be the person with the biggest title. My job as a leader isn’t to have every answer. It’s to ask better questions, bring smart people together, create enough psychological safety for someone to tell me when I’m wrong, and help turn good ideas into things that actually work.

I write and speak about AI, technology, leadership, ethics, identity, and the wonderfully complicated humans who have to live with everything we build.

The rest of this site wanders through art, philosophy of mind to Socrates, community, history, theoretical physics, science of all kinds, creativity, and assorted mysteries I have no particular qualifications to investigate but insufficient good sense to leave alone.
